ONCOLOGY MASSAGE

COVID-19 update: Suspended until it is safe for both our provider and patients

Kitsap Cancer Services utilizes the professional services of Mary Briner, LMT, CMLDT, who is a massage therapist specifically trained to support side effects a patient may incur as a result of their cancer treatment.  Mary brings the cancer community many years of experience as she has been providing this adjunct therapy to local cancer survivors since 2010 and has been a licensed massage practitioner since 2000.
Evidence based research has shown massage therapy to enhance a cancer patient’s healing process by addressing such issues as constipation, low platelets, low blood counts, DVT’s, bone and organ system metastasis, compromised lymphatic systems and lymphedema.  Port, ostomy, and other mechanical device side effects can also be addressed by the therapist as well.
Oncology Massage also helps to support the patient by decreasing pain, neuropathy, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and sleep disruption by coaxing the body to relax, rest and heal.
Referrals are made through Oncology Social Workers, Doctors and Nurse Navigators where the patient is receiving their treatment.  Mary’s place of business can be found at 19980 10th Ave. NE, Suite 204 A, in Poulsbo.
